Question:

1. How many cameras maximal can be active in a BBB-room?

(Last edited: Thursday, 3 August 2023, 10:57 AM)
Answer:

we recommend that only the moderators activate their cameras. A high number of cameras not only affects the server load, but can also lead to performance problems on the users side. The absolute limit is 20 cameras per room. In this case, however, the room can no longer be reasonably used on many end devices and sound problems can occur.

Question:

2. How do I share my screen?

(Last edited: Wednesday, 26 July 2023, 2:28 PM)
Answer:

Follow these instructions:
1. In order to be able to share your screen, you must have the presenter role. The moderator can also assign these to you. You can tell that you have the role by the small blue screen icon in the upper left corner of your initial icon in the list of participants:

2. Now press the screen icon at the bottom:

3. Then an overview will appear with the options "Share full screen", "Application window" or "Browser tab". It is best to use one of the last two options, then less bandwidth is needed and the connection quality is guaranteed:

4. To stop sharing, either press the on-screen button again as in step 2 or follow this small menu bar:

If screen sharing does not work, please check the website permissions (via the lock icon or the browser settings), test another current browser and temporarily disable your antivirus program for this website if necessary.

Question:

4. How can I share audio and video?

(Last edited: Wednesday, 26 July 2023, 3:41 PM)
Answer:

There are two ways to watch videos together. Depending on whether you're using an online video (a) or a file that's just on your hard drive (b), choose one of the following:
a) Online videos:
You can use the Share Video function to insert a link to Youtube or Vimeo (alternatively to an online publicly deposited .mp4 file) behind the blue plus sign at the bottom left and thus watch the video together and at the same time with the participants.

b) Offline videos:
The Share Screen function can be used to transmit the computer sound/sound. To do this, open your file via drag-and-drop in a browser tab and select it. Check the Share Audio box at the bottom left of the preview window selector.

Question:

8. How do I solve problems with sharing my Power-Point-presentation?

(Last edited: Wednesday, 26 July 2023, 4:12 PM)
Answer:

When uploaded, PowerPoint presentations are automatically converted to PDF files. Due to version incompatibilities and the limitations of the PDF format, animations and formatting cannot be adopted. The PDF format only shows the final result of an animated slide. Convert your presentations yourself before uploading so that you can check the view beforehand. Simple animations can also be created in PDF with several slides/pages connected in series.

Question:

9. How can I use the survey function in BBB?

(Last edited: Wednesday, 26 July 2023, 4:18 PM)
Answer:

1. The survey function can be found behind the blue plus at the bottom left of the BBB interface.

2. You can ask your question in the first step. To do this, you can either a) provide ready-made answer options (true/false, yes/no), b) generate up to 5 answer options yourself or c) provide the participants with a free text field. You can also set whether you want the survey to be anonymous.

3. The results are immediately visible to the presenter (a) and can then be shared with the group (publish survey results). The results then appear to all participants at the bottom right of the screen (b) and are recorded in the joint chat of the meeting (c).
